At. St. John’s we believe that serving and loving our neighbors is central to who we are as followers of Jesus. There are many ways you can get involved in serving your neighbors here at St. John's!

St. John’s Closet

Hours of Operation: Tuesdays 12-2  

Address: 215 Cumberland Street Clear Spring, MD

St. John’s Closet began in November of 2022 after St.John’s UCC saw a need for a place for people to get free clothing. All that we give away is free of cost and comes from the generous donations of the Clear Spring community. The closet currently serves from 5-17 people each week. We welcome the community to get involved by making a donation or volunteering to help sort clothing. High School students are eligible to get SSL hours by helping at the St. John’s Closet. 

What St. John’s Closet offers: 

  • Adult clothing in all sizes 

  • Kids clothing in all sizes 

  • Winter wear 

  • Resource info of other service providers 

  • On Third Tuesdays, Community Action Council is onsite to help connect to other Washington County Services 

Donations:

Donations can be dropped off at St. John’s during office hours

(Tues-Thurs 10 am-2 pm)

  • Lightly used clothing of all sizes (due to space limitations it is helpful if they are seasonally appropriate i.e., winter clothing in the winter months) 

  • Children’s clothing of all sizes 

  • Socks 

  • Shoes of all sizes 

  • Toiletries (soap, deodorant, shampoo, etc) 

  • Women’s Hygiene products 

Little Free Food Pantry

Located on the church parking lot, the Little Free Food Pantry is open 24/7. If you are in need of food you may take what you need, if you have extra food you may place your food in the pantry to share. The most popular food items for donation are canned meats, soups, and anything with lots of protein (Non Perishable Foods). The mission team supplements the pantry with food throughout the year.

St. John’s is consistently finding new ways to serve the community. Throughout the year we have many projects that we do together. During the holidays, we partner with the Clear Spring Schools to provide support for families and gifts for the kids. We hope you will join us in one of the many opportunities to love and serve!
